Ownership
As an owner, you have a say in your insurance program. NYMIR is run by a thirteen-member Board of Governors, consisting of both appointed and elected officials, representing subscribers around the State. They want your input.
Coverage
NYMIR offers the most comprehensive municipal insurance program in New York State. We provide property, general liability, automobile, inland marine, public officials, law enforcement, boiler and machinery and crime insurance for our subscribers. Our coverages were recently enhanced - primarily due to suggestions from our subscribers - to include additional coverage for earthquake and flood, commandeered property and property stored permanently off-premises, sudden and accidental pollution, and employment practices liability.
Risk Management
NYMIR provides a premier, innovative risk management program. Subscribers receive - free of charge - annual inspections, subscription to the NYMIR Risk Management Handbook, access to videos and risk management materials, invitations to regional seminars, participation in various risk management initiatives, such as review of prior written notice laws and employment related policies, and access to NYMIR risk management consultants.
Claims Management
NYMIR's claim philosophy has been the same since its inception - to fight frivolous lawsuits. We take seriously our responsibility to defend the public sector, even if it means spending more money defending a case than it may take to dispose of it.
